This typed torso is around A5 in size. It was typed on an electric Olympia typewriter fitted with a brown ribbon (which actually looks more red in the finished image).
The model posed remotely and the image was sliced into individual sections. The luminance of each section was calculated, and this was used to select which characters should be typed in each position to recreate it in physical form. Up to three characters are stacked on top of each other, depending on the darkness of the area being typed.
