The model posed remotely for this A2 typed portrait, which took around three weeks to complete. As with the other typewriter portraits, it was produced by first breaking down the image into tiny pieces, then calculating the relative brightness of each one.
This data was used to work out which characters needed to be typed in each location, with up to three characters being stacked on top of one another in each instance to achieve the required density.
This data was organised on a spreadsheet, which was used to output a typing guide as a PDF. This was transferred to an iPad from which it could be referenced while typing.
