This typewriter portrait is A2 height, but slightly narrower than full A2 as the page had to be trimmed to fit in the typewriter platen. The typewriter itself is an electric Olympia model. The model posed remotely.

To create the image, the original photo was broken down into individual blocks, and the appropriate characters for each block calculated. Each block contains up to three characters typed on top of one another, depending on how dark the image is in that area.

This piece took around three weeks to type.
