Axle double exposure

This is two portraits of Axle, plotted one on top of the other. The red picture is made up solely of horizontal lines and the black picture with just black lines.

The lines themselves are straight where the image is white (particularly around the background), but wobbles more and more as the image gets darker. Each of the ‘wobbles’ was individually drawn using an iPad Air, and positioned on the page using a spreadsheet. In total, there are around 200,000 wobbles per colour.

The combined picture is drawn on A1 using Pilot Hi-Techpoint rollerball pens.
